THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PUNJAB ACT, 1973 — It shall come into force at once and shall be deemed to have taken effect on and from the day the University of the Punjab Ordinance, 1972 (Punjab Ordinance No. XVII of 1972), as amended by the University of the Punjab (Amendment) Ordinance, 1973 (Punjab Ordinance No. IX of 1973) ceased to operate in accordance with the provisions of clause (2) (a) of Article 135 of the Interim Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The University shall be a body corporate by the name of the University of the Punjab and shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and may sue and be sued by the said name. The University shall be competent to acquire and hold property both movable and immovable and lease, sell or otherwise transfer any movable and immovable property which vests in or has been acquired by it. THE PUNJAB SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY ACT, 2019 — It extends to whole of the Punjab. It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, specify; and, the Government may specify different dates for the enforcement of various provisions of the Act. Act means the Punjab Skills Development Authority Act 2019. The Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, establish Punjab Skills Development Authority. The Authority shall be a body corporate, having perpetual succession and a common seal, with powers to enter into contracts, acquire and, subject to subsection (3), dispose of both movable and immovable property in accordance with law, and may, by the said name, sue or be sued. THE (PBTE) PUNJAB BOARD OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2019 — It shall come into force at once. The Board shall consist of the Chairman and not less than seven but not more than eleven members, including at least three female members to be appointed by the Controlling Authority on such terms and conditions as may be prescribed and until so prescribed as the Government may determine. No act or proceedings of the Board shall be invalid merely by reason of any vacancy or defect in the constitution of the Board. THE PUNJAB SALES TAX ON SERVICES ACT, 2012 — It shall extend to the whole of the Punjab. This Act shall come into force on and from such date as the Government may, by a notification in the official Gazette, specify. Notwithstanding sub-section (3), the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, specify services or class or classes of services in respect of which tax shall be collected and paid with effect from the date subsequent to and different from the date of the commencement of this Act. Subject to such exclusion as mentioned in Second Schedule, a taxable service is a service listed in Second Schedule, which is provided by a person from his office or place of business in the Punjab in the course of an economic activity, including the commencement or termination of the activity. Where a person is providing taxable services in a Province other than the Punjab but the recipient of such services is resident of the Punjab or is otherwise availing such services in the Punjab and has charged tax accordingly, the person providing such services shall pay the amount of tax so charged to the Government.October 7th, 2019 | 0 Comments
