THE PUNJAB GENERAL PROVIDENT FUND (GP FUND) RULES, 1978 — They shall come into force at once. All Government servants in permanent, temporary or officiating service (including probationary service) shall be eligible to joining the fund. Provided that a Government servant subscribing to a Contributory Provident Fund shall not be eligible to join this Fund. A Government servant who has completed 2 years’ continuous service shall subscribe to the Fund compulsorily. A Government servant appointed on contract whose contract does not provide for subscription to the Fund may be given the option to join the Fund as compulsory subscriber.
