Download THE PUNJAB GENERAL PROVIDENT FUND (GP FUND) RULES, 1978 — They shall come into force at once. All Government servants in permanent, temporary or officiating service (including probationary service) shall be eligible to joining the fund. Provided that a Government servant subscribing to a Contributory Provident Fund shall not be eligible to join this Fund. A Government servant who has completed 2 years’ continuous service shall subscribe to the Fund compulsorily. A Government servant appointed on contract whose contract does not provide for subscription to the Fund may be given the option to join the Fund as compulsory subscriber. A subscriber shall, as soon as may be after joining the Fund, send to the Accounts Officer, a nomination conferring on one or more persons the right to receive the amount that may stand to his credit in the Fund, in the event of his death before that amount has become payable, or having become payable has not been paid. An account shall be prepared in the name of each subscriber and shall show the amount of his subscriptions with interest thereon. A subscriber shall subscribe monthly to the Fund except during a period of suspension.
