No limit for length of service for the deceased civil servant is prescribed for grant of financial assistance to his family who died while in service. Thus the family of the deceased civil servant will be entitled to financial assistance even the deceased had served for one day only. Families of civil servants who died on or before 09-11-2004 are not entitled to this benefit. Family of a civil servant cannot be refused such financial assistance simply on the grounds that financial position of the family is sound. Such leave shall not be granted to government servants within three years of the date of superannuation or retirement. The period of study leave is upto four years and it is granted once in entire service to a government servant. Extraordinary Leave (EOL) can be granted in conjunction with study leave. MATERNITY / PATERNITY LEAVE (PUNJAB GOVERNMENT) — A female civil servant may, for the maximum period of ninety days, be granted maternity leave with full pay outside her leave account, at any time, immediately before or after the birth of a child and she shall not be required to provide fitness certificate for purposes of joining duties after such leave. Such leave may not be granted for more than three times in the entire service of a female civil servant except in the case of a female civil servant employed in a vacation department who may be granted maternity leave without this restriction. LEAVE PREPARATORY TO RETIREMENT (LPR), ENCASHMENT OF REFUSED LEAVE PREPARATORY TO RETIREMENT AND PAY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENCASHMENT (PUNJAB GOVERNMENT) — According to Notification of Government of the Punjab, Finance Department dated: 01-06-2023, Leave Encashment will be paid on monthly basis after 01-06-2023. According to Rule 17(7) of the Revised Leave Rules, 1981, a civil servant who desires to get the benefit of encashment of LPR for a maximum period of three hundred and sixty five days, shall submit his written application to the Appointing Authority for grant of LPR, at least three months before the date of commencement of his LPR and if, the Appointing Authority so refused his request, he shall be entitled to encashment of refused LPR for three hundred and sixty five days equal to initial Pay of Basic Pay Scale. A civil servant is bound to apply to the Appointing Authority for grant of the benefit of Leave Encashment in lieu of LPR at least three months before the commencement date of the LPR in terms of Rule 17(7) of the Revised Leave Rules, 1981.
